Five Reasons Why Toyama Prefecture Is an Attractive Location for Conventions

Point1 Convenient Access from around the Country and the World

Toyama Prefecture is located in the center of Japan and is approximately the same distance from the 3 major metropolitan areas of Tokyo, Osaka and Nagoya. The high-speed railway line Hokuriku Shinkansen opened in March 2015, connecting Toyama and Tokyo in about 2 hours. Moreover, Toyama Airport is located about 15 minutes from the Toyama city center and services domestic flights from Tokyo and Sapporo as well as international flights from major cities in East Asia including Seoul, Dalian, Shanghai and Taipei, providing excellent access from around the country and the world.

Also, Kanazawa and Tsuruga are scheduled to open in the spring of 2024, which will make it ever more convenient from Kansai and Chukyo areas.

Point2 A Wide Variety of Convention Facilities

Toyama Prefecture boasts a unique combination of abundant nature and well-developed urban functions. A large number of inexpensive conference facilities of various sizes and functions are located in the prefecture.

Toyama City is designated by the government as an international conference and tourism city. Many conference centers are located in the city, such as the Toyama Prefectural Civic Center and the International Conference Center, which feature high-grade facilities and the latest systems, making it the ideal place for international conferences. Furthermore, many hotels and restaurants are concentrated along the city tramline “Centram,” making it possible to organize conventions in a pleasant environment and take full advantage of the urban functions of the highly convenient compact city.

In contrast, international convention facilities are also located in Unazuki Onsen, one of Japan’s premier hot spring villages. Here, visitors can participate in conferences and workshops in a relaxing and warm atmosphere surrounded by nature.
